Autumn Applesauce

Try your hand at this scrumptious, cast-iron baked Autumn Applesauce!

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds apples (4-5 large apples),cored and cut into small pieces

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1 lemon juiced

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon cardamom

Instructions:

  • Pre-heat oven to 250 degrees.
  • Add all ingredients to your skillet over medium heat.
  • Once simmering, reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes, until apples are soft.
  • Mash apples using a fork or potato masher until applesauce is your desired consistency.
  • Taste and add more maple syrup for sweetness or more lemon juice for tartness.
  • Place skillet in the oven for 25 minutes, or until the top of the applesauce starts to glaze. Take it out and let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
